The kiln feed residues on 125, 90 and 45 micron are as per standard laboratory sieve analysis.

The percentage acid insoluble residue for the kiln feed fraction greater than 90 micron is determined by taking a known mass of this fraction and adding hydrochloric acid to it. The portion not dissolved by the acid is then expressed as a percentage of the mass prior to adding the acid. This is typically less than 3%

The percentage quartz in the kiln feed fraction greater than 45 micron is typically done by XRD analysis. The percentage is typically less than 8%.

The chemical composition of the elemental oxides for the clinker is on an LOI (loss on ignition) inclusive basis. I.e. the sum of the oxides and the LOI must be close to 100%. Typically the LOI for fresh clinker is zero, but is greater than zero for weathered/outside clinker.

The percentage free lime in the clinker is the unreacted calcium oxide left in the clinker.
