The specific heat consumption is for the complete kiln system, while the percentage energy to the main burner is specified.

Typically a section at the cooler tube inlet is lined with refractory material. The diameter inside steel tube, as well as inside the refractory section are required for the tubes.

The length of the cylindrical section of the cooler tubes is required, excluding the inlet throat section.

The cross-sectional open area of the inlet opening of a single tube is required.

The primary air flow rate must be provided in normal cubic meters per hour.

The degree of calcination of the hot meal entering the kiln inlet (i.e. from the bottom stage cyclone(s) is required.

An estimation of the false air ingress at the kiln hood (i.e. kiln outlet seal) is required in normal cubic meters per kilogram clinker. This is typically 0.02 to 0.05 Nm3/kg cli, and depends on the kiln outlet seal condition.

Some plants inject water into the cooler tubes. The rate of water injected is required in litres per hour if applicable.

The secondary air temperature can be calculated by a cooler heat balance, and is typically between 600 and 700°C, depending on the recuperation efficiency of the cooler.
